Consonare Chorale is an ensemble of passionate and accomplished musicians.  Our name comes from a desire to come together “to harmonize, sound, and resonate” with the ideas and aesthetics encompassed in excellent chorale literature.  Interpretation allows Consonare to express the profound effect that music has in our lives.

 Music of the Spheres

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

As the universe was believed to resonate amongst the spheres, so do music and the soul.  Music is math, science, and philosophy.  Partake in the culmination of time, space and sound and be inspired by the celestial bodies.  Whether in the spiritual awakening of Eric Whitacre's Lux Arumque or the call to better ourselves within Stephen Chatman's Thou Whose Harmonies are the Music of the Spheres, each reveals the grandeur of the universe and smallness of the individual coexisting simultaneously.  We also celebrate the 200th anniversary of Mendelssohn's birth with his joyful Frohlocket, ihr Völker auf Erden and close the evening with Haydn's triumphant The Heavens are Telling from "The Creation."

To seek love and beauty is a marvelous path.  It is an intimate exploration of pain and pleasure, joy and sorrow, present and infinity.  Whether in a romantic love or eternal bliss let the mingling of poetry and music reveal beauty in our everyday encounters.
